When Cormac came to SDSC initially, his aim was to increase muscle mass – he has a bodyweight target in mind and we are still working towards it. With a combination of strength training in the group sessions and a specific diet plan to increase weight with as little bodyfat as possible (his bodyfat actually dropped in the following weeks!) Cormac is well on his way to hitting his targets. Here is what he had to say about his experiences at the gym so far…
I wish I had discovered a gym like South Dublin Strength and Condition sooner in life, instead of frittering time and money on an unfocused and unsupervised gym programme for several years. Hands down SDSC is the best gym I have ever been a part of, for several reasons:
- Firstly, the trainers, David and Ross are incredibly knowledgeable in their field and constantly researching, as being extremely approachable and helpful. They go through every exercise we are going to do beforehand and ensure we are using the correct technique which is vital in avoiding injury and getting the most out of the exercise.
- The atmosphere and camaraderie in SDSC is second to none. The positivity and motivation from everyone helps to create the perfect training environment.
- No two sessions are ever the same, which keeps your muscles guessing and avoids a major pitfall of conventional gyms – going through the motions with the same workout week-in, week-out.
- Results; Dave helps create a diet plan for you in line with your goals, and the effort and care that goes into the monitoring and discussion of diet and exercises is something that a) you are not going to get at conventional gyms and b) ensures progress. In the last 8 weeks I have lost around 4% bodyfat, whilst also bulking up and becoming much fitter, just like the goals I discussed with Dave on day one. Three months ago a 5-second sprint to the ball would have me winded for 5 minutes, now I’m jogging off the pitch in matches after 60 minutes of hurling.
None of this progress could have come about without the help and guidance of Dave and Ross, and I know they’ll help me make even more progress in the future. I cannot recommend South Dublin Strength and Conditioning highly enough.
